May 9 and 10, 2008, the youth participated in World Vision's 30 Hour
Famine. The famine is a youth movement to fight hunger. Donors and
sponsors gave money to help feed children in the poorest countries
around the world, and our youth went 30 hours without eating to get a
taste of what it is like to go hungry. Most of us don't go even several
hours without eating so this was quite a challenge! They now have a
better appreciation for what children around the world have to live with
daily. Our group participated in bible study, prayer, and service projects,
such as canned food drive, during the famine. We raised $400 - enough to
feed a child for over a year! More information about the famine can be
found at www.30hourfamine.org
